Rhode Island Bioptic Laws

 Bioptic driving status is unclear.

• Visual Acuity: 20/40 in the better eye, with or without corrective lenses.  
• No provisions for less than 20/40 in the better eye.
• Visual Field: Minimum of 115 degrees in the horizontal meridian.  
• For monocular drivers, 40 degrees nasally & 75 degrees temporally.
• Bioptic telescopes not specifically addressed, but questions on vision reduction may go before the Medical Advisory Board for a decision on licensing.
