Graduate of Indiana University Occupational Therapy program. She has been working in the specialty field of Low Vision O.T. and Driver Rehabilitation since 1999. In 2003 she founded Therapeutic Mobility Services Inc., a community-based business providing on-site services specializing in driver rehabilitation and community mobility for special-needs individuals in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. Eva is an active member of ADED (Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists), AOTA (American Occupational Therapy Association). She is a credentialed CDRS (certified driver rehab specialist) and presents nationally on the topics of occupational therapy in low vision and bioptic driver rehabilitation.

Mary Ellen Keith, COTA, CDRS

Mary Ellen Keith is the Indiana Office Program Director and Driver Rehabilitation Specialist II at Adaptive Mobility Services, Inc. She was the Lead Driver Rehabilitation Specialist at Easter Seals Crossroads Rehabilitation Center for 8 ½ years.  Since 2000, she has re-organized and re-structured Crossroads driver evaluation & training program including developing the bioptic driver training section. She is recognized by the state of Indiana to teach driving to low vision clients using a bioptic telescope. Her expertise in the field of OT bioptic driver training has quickly earned the respect and reputation of other therapists, eye care specialists, vocational rehabilitation agencies and consumers. She has assisted in the training and certification of other therapists from Indiana and other states to become bioptic instructors. 

She received an Associate Degree in Applied Science and the certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in 2000. She worked at St. Frances Hospital for one year PRN during 2000 in the acute care and rehabilitation units.  At present, she also works PRN at a Long Term Facility.

She has been a member of the Association of Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED) since 2000 and currently is the secretary of ADED. She was the vice president of the ADED Midwest chapter in 2007. She teaches a 3-day workshop in Orlando, FL for experienced OT Driver Rehabilitation Specialists on “The Evaluation and Training of the Low Vision and Bioptic Driver.” She has been a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) since 2000. She has presented at their past conferences and has been an invited speaker to the First and Second Annual Driving Symposium for Occupational Therapists sponsored by AOTA in collaboration with Adaptive Mobility Services, Inc. She became an in-vehicle instructor for Adaptive Mobility Services’ workshop entitled Take the Wheel:  A Driver Education Course for the Therapist in 2006. She has presented at the national and local chapter of ADED. She has spoken at the local universities, IUPUI & UI in the OT department and Driver Ed department. She has spoken to many professionals, OT students and consumer audiences on the topic of occupational therapy and driver rehabilitation, bioptic/low vision and driving.

Susan Henderson, CDRS, COTA

Susan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University in Physical Education/Health Education and Driver Education/Traffic Safety.  She holds a Master of Science in Health and Safety from Indiana State University, and an Occupational Therapy Assistant degree from Lake Michigan College.  She is a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant working in the field of driver rehabilitation at Memorial’s Outpatient Therapy Center.  She was the first to work with Bioptic drivers in the state of Indiana.  She works with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and Low Vision Optometrists to help low vision drivers maintain their privileges within the state of Indiana.

Susan has been involved with the ADED (Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists) for her entire career.  She has held chapter and national board positions.  She has made numerous presentations at the local and national level on low vision and driving.  She is also featured in the bioptic driving video.

Kathryn Kachanoski, CDRS, CTRS

Graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and received her B.S. in Therapeutic Recreation.  I also completed credit hours in safety education.  Kathy is a certified therapeutic recreation specialist and a certified driver rehabilitation specialist.  Kathy has been a member of ADED (Association of Driver Rehabilitation Specialist) since 1984.  Kathy has served as a board member nationally and in the Midwest chapter.

Kathy has also represented the driver rehabilitation specialists in team meetings through the Bureau of Motor Vehicles on rules and regulations for bioptic drivers in the state of IN. Kathy also helped the state of KY establish licensing bioptic drivers. Kathy has been a mentor for other professionals to establish the ability to evaluate and train bioptic drivers.

Kathy has been working in the field of driver rehabilitation at Columbus Regional Hospital’s outpatient rehabilitation services since 1992.  She has completed several hours of continuing education courses in the field of low vision.
