Vermont Bioptic Laws

Bioptics are permitted for driving and to pass the licensure test. 

  • Visual Acuity: 20/40 in the better eye, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Visual Field: 60 degrees external, each eye. Monocular: 60 degrees external and 60 degrees nasal.
  • Bioptic telescopes are permitted to meet visual acuity standards. A behind-the-wheel road test is required.
